Eric Giovon was born and raised in New York City, where he first discovered photography in his father’s Mom & Pop camera store in Brooklyn. From an early age, he was drawn to the way light shapes a story. He is self-taught, having set up his own darkroom, and followed his eye into the world of moving images. For over 20 years, he has worked as a cinematographer, capturing commercials, music videos, films, and documentaries. Along the way, he has collaborated with filmmakers like Bob Giraldi and Frida Torresblanco, and worked with artists including Ed Sheeran, Camila Cabello, 50 Cent, and the Wu-Tang Clan. He has filmed actors such as Danny Aiello, Sterling K. Brown, and Whoopi Goldberg, and those experiences continue to shape how he approaches storytelling — with an eye for both the grand and the intimate.
“Photography, for me, is about stillness — about presence. I live through imagery, and whether I’m photographing street life or filming a narrative, I’m drawn to the fleeting moments where something honest appears.”
